Northern Ireland Discovery 🍀

4 nights!

February to April 2022

Departing from

In Northern Ireland, you’re never far from a memory in the making. Whether you’re after a city break full of delightful cuisine and live music, a week chockful of historic sites and buildings, pop culture tours, or action-filled adventures there’s something waiting for you not so far away from home…

Day 1 From Home to Belfast
Jump on a ferry from Liverpool and arrive in Belfast.
Belfast is a small but vibrant capital city, packed full of incredible eateries, fascinating arts and culture, lively nightlife and more live music than you can shake a stick at.

Head to the Cathedral Quarter by day for street art by local and international artists, the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival full of music, drama, poetry, street theatre and art, and the Belfast Film Festival showcasing films from local and international filmmakers. Or stop by at night to sample live music, cold pints and fruity cocktails at any one of the trendy bars or traditional pubs.

Make sure you come to Belfast hungry and visit any of the city’s restaurants and cafés and you’ll be served fresh produce and seafood from local farms and ports. Choose high-end tasting menus, fusion cooking, or something to grab on the move, you won’t be disappointed.

For history fanatics, the Titanic Quarter is not to be missed. The old shipyard is named for the famous ship that was constructed here, and now home to Titanic Belfast, a state-of-the-art multi-media museum that draws visitors from all over the world. If you feel like getting out of the city, for some history, head to Carrickfergus Castle, one of the best-preserved Medieval structures in Ireland.

Day 2 Antrim Coast
Take in the stunning scenery along a portion of the Causeway Coastal Route on your way to Giant’s Causeway. Stop off at the Gobbins for a dramatic coastal walk along the water. Pause for a while at the Cushendun Caves, one of the filming locations for the hit HBO TV Series Game of Thrones.

Day 3 Giant’s Causeway
Today, take a drive to Giant’s Causeway. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a geological wonder. Legend says that the Causeway was built by local giant Finn MacCool, as a pathway to Scotland where another giant, Benandonner lived. Marvel at the 40,000 or so basalt columns that lead out into the North Channel.
Next up visit the Old Bushmills Distillery, the world’s oldest licensed Whiskey Distillery (licensed since 1608!) for a wee dram and tour.
Afterwards, head up to Dunluce Castle, the stunning cliff top ruins featured in Game of Thrones as the seat of House Greyjoy (thanks to some CGI Trickery.) The town of Dunluce, lost during the Irish Uprising of 1641, has been discovered following major archaeological digs and seems to have been quite ahead of it’s time with indoor toilets.

Day 4 Down and Belfast
Visit Downpatrick in County Down, and the Saint Patricks Centre, to learn about Ireland’s Patron Saint.
Head to Down County Museum, a restored 18th century Gaol turned museum taking you on 9,000 years of history of County Down. Or go for a hike on the Tobar Mhuire Heritage Trail, containing a Victorian walled garden, and a spectacular view of the Mourne Mountains.

Day 5 Belfast to Home
Spend some time in Belfast until it’s time to catch the ferry back to Liverpool.
