Solo travellers will experience a true taste of Ireland, as we enjoy a tour of the Kilbeggan Distillery. See the ancient ruins of the Clonmacnoise Monastery, and bring the past to life in Carrick-on-Shannon, as we walk the old town. Experience the capital city of Dublin and take a tour of the city’s famous sights, from the Four Courts to St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Before we return home from our holiday, we also offer guests the opportunity to spend time in the historic market town of Athlone.

Tour Itinerary
Please note: order of the itinerary may be subject to change.
Day 1:
Door-to-door departure or regional departure by coach, then to Holyhead for the ferry to Ireland and on to Mullingar for a five-night stay.
Meals included: Dinner.
Day 2: Carrick-on-Shannon
Included excursion to Carrick-on-Shannon, situated on the shores of the River Shannon. A walk through the town brings to life the historic past, in particular the Costello Chapel which is believed to be the smallest in Europe.
Known as the ‘marina capital of Ireland’, the marina is a focal point of the town, and there are a whole host of restaurants, cafes and shops to explore.

Day 3: Kilbeggan Distillery & Clonmacnoise
Enjoy a true taste of Ireland on our included visit to The Kilbeggan Distillery Experience, Ireland’s oldest distillery.
By way of contrast, a visit will then be made to a remote spot by the River Shannon to see the ancient ruins of the 6th Century Clonmacnoise Monastery, one of Ireland’s most important monastic sites.

Day 4: Dublin
Included excursion to Dublin where you’ll have some free time. Our optional sightseeing tour will give you a taste of this fascinating city, and will show off the inner city of Dublin, which, if left on your own, would take a week! You’ll see both the north and south parts of the capital.
The tour is a panoramic one, seeing beautiful buildings of significance like Trinity college, St. Patricks Cathedral, The National Art Gallery, and the Four Courts. Dublin is a beautiful Georgian city with superb squares. Dublin is also home to the Guinness Storehouse should you wish to pay homage to Dublin’s most famous drink, and take in the views from the glasses Gravity Bar.

Day 5: Day at leisure or Athlone
Relax with a free day, or join our optional excursion to Athlone, a historic market town located on the borders of County Roscommon and Westmeath. Athlone Castle is steeped in history and has been the scene of a turbulent past.

To Holyhead, then home

You will stay for five nights at the 4-star Bloomfield House Hotel, Leisure Club and Spa, situated on the outskirts of Mullingar in its own 25 acres of parkland. Please note that due to demand, we may use other hotels of a similar standard. Your hotel will be confirmed at the time of booking.
