While in town, visit Sechselätenplatz on 15th April for the iconic Sechseläuten festival. The Sechseläuten festival in Zurich heralds the arrival of spring with the burning of the Böögg, a symbolic snowman-like figure filled with fireworks. A colourful parade featuring guilds and traditional costumes winds through the streets before culminating at Sechseläutenplatz. As evening falls, the Böögg is set atop a bonfire, and crowds eagerly await its fiery demise. The speed of the Böögg’s explosion forecasts the coming summer’s weather. Swift bursts promise warmth and sunshine, while slower burns hint at a cooler season. The festival unites locals and tourists in celebration, with music, dancing, and revelry lasting late into the night.
