Wait – how is this Sustainable if it includes flights?

The bottom line is that any flights powered by conventional aviation fuel are not environmentally sustainable. The carbon emissions are real and there is currently no way to stop that emission. There is a long-term vision of sustainable aviation fuel, electric aircraft and hydrogen-powered flight but that is perhaps decades away. If you choose to fly on your holiday then our objective is to help you mitigate the emissions by making better choices: looking at the aircraft to choose modern fuel-efficient places, flying non-stop to reduce the number of take-offs and landings, flying economy to avoid heavier bigger ‘footprint’ premium seats; all of which don’t stop emissions but they are better than the worst decision. Then, when it comes to the journey in-destination, our travel experts offer smart choices about when to travel to reduce over-tourism, the means of travelling around, the choice of place, stay and activities that support a more sustainable experience from an environmental, social and economic sustainability perspective. About Orlando

In the heart of Florida — a state named for flowers and sunshine — Orlando’s natural beauty serves as the perfect counterbalance to the area’s signature theme park fun. Ecotours, natural springs, birding, nature trails, fishing, kayaking, airboat rides and lots of thrills are some of the many options for exploring the great outdoors in Orlando. Whether peacefully paddling through spring-fed lakes or hang-gliding 2,000 feet above orange groves, you can dive into a variety of lush ecosystems, all within driving distance of the tourism districts.

From venues and businesses, golf resorts, and LEED-certified lodging, to restaurants, activities and theme park conservation efforts, Orlando prides itself on being environmentally responsible. See how the local government agencies, businesses and residents are working together to make the Theme Park Capital of the World the most sustainable and resilient community in the Southeast of the United States. 3-Star Wyndham Orlando Resort Hotel

The Wyndham Orlando Resort Hotel has a 4 Palm rating in the Florida Green Lodging Program, an initiative of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) that designates and recognises lodging facilities that make a voluntary commitment to conserve and protect Florida’s natural resources. The program’s environmental guidelines enable the hospitality industry to evaluate operations, set goals and take specific actions to continuously improve environmental performance. To become designated, facilities must conduct a thorough property assessment and implement a specified number of environmental practices in five areas of sustainable operations:

  1. Communication and education (customers, employees, public).
  2. Waste reduction, reuse and recycling.
  3. Water conservation.
  4. Energy efficiency.
  5. Indoor air quality.
