Itinerary

Day 1: UK to Tallinn, Estonia
Fly to Tallinn and check in to the hotel for two nights.

Day 2: Tallinn, Estonia

Spend today at leisure in Estonia’s capital. Explore the medieval Old Town with its enchanting muddle of 13th-century church spires, maze of cobbled streets and impressive Town Hall Square. Take some time to relax in the city’s chic cafés and trendy bars, enjoy meals in gourmet restaurants and exercise your credit cards in the sparkling new designer malls.

Day 3: Tallinn to Narva

Take the bus to Narva (takes around 3 hours) or the train (express train takes 2 hours 20 minutes) and check in to the hotel for an overnight stay. Narva, made up of 90% Russians has a completely different feel to it than the rest of the country. Geographically it is closer to St Petersburg than to Tallinn and as with all border towns, it has a fascinating history. The city’s skyline is defined by the imposing Hermann and Ivangorod Castles, which face each other across the Narva River.

Day 4: Narva to Tartu

Travel by bus to Tartu (journey takes around 3 hours 40 minutes) and on arrival, check in to hotel for two nights. Tartu is the second oldest city in the Baltic region, and thanks to the University of Tartu (Northern Europe’s second oldest university) the city is vibrant with its large student population. A large part of Tartu’s allure is that it’s an amazingly easy city to explore on foot. The most interesting parts are all concentrated in the same general area, with the historic Old Town flanked on one side by the leafy Toome Hill and on the other by the serene Emajogi River.

Day 5: Tartu

Free day to explore the city as the European Capital of Culture in 2024 Tartu will showcase its rich cultural heritage and vibrant contemporary arts scene to the world so there should be plenty going on in 2024. Do include a visit to The Estonian National Museum in Tartu, the largest museum in Estonia. Explore the everyday life of Estonians and learn about Finno-Ugric people. The building is very impressive with temporary exhibitions, a restaurant, a museum shop, and beautiful outdoor areas, including a glass-roofed distillery by Lake Raadi.

Day 6: Tartu to Parnu

Travel by bus to Parnu (journey takes around 2 hours 40 minutes) and check in to hotel for an overnight stay. A wide stretch of white sand beach, a magnificent historic town centre, leafy park areas and quiet streets lined with early 20th-century villas sums up Parnu to a tee. Throughout the summer months there are all kinds of festivals and the elegant Town Hall hosts many classical music concerts.

Day 7: Parnu to Tallinn

Take the bus to Tallinn (journey takes around 2 hours) and check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 8: Tallinn to UK
Spend the morning at leisure and take a flight back to the UK.

This is an example itinerary staying at three or four-star hotels, accompanied by a guide price.
